Skincare Routine | Oily Blemish Prone Skin

I have always had oily skin but from the age of about 14 I have had terrible blemishes and until about  midway through last year I just caked on makeup to try and hide it which I know is very very bad so since then I have been hunting down products that I think really help my skin to share with you, however I haven't included a moisturiser as I haven't found one I like quite enough but once I do I am sure it will be in a favourites.

I have to wear water proof mascara as my eyes get so watery throughout the day especially if its windy or hay fever season (basically everyday in Britain) so eye makeup remover is a must unless I want to wake up like a panda in the morning, I had tried so many removers before this one and I seemed to always get really itchy or sore eyes however this works so well so my eyes don't get sore from rubbing so much.

As the next step in my skincare routine, after all my eye makeups off I get the majority of my face makeup off with the Garnier Micellar Water using a cotton pad which works so well, sometimes I will go back and use this again after face wash if my makeup was particularly heavy as one small bit of makeup left on my skin breaks me out.

Now I know this is very heavy on all the Body Shop products but I swear by there tea tree range for clearing my skin, I think its because they are natural so don't have all the nasty chemicals other brands can have in them which I think my face reacts too. I usually switch between the face wash and scrub for my evening skincare routine using the face scrub every other night to remove any last remains of makeup and cleanse my skin. The scrub works so well to exfoliate and makes my skin feel really smooth getting rid of any nasty impurities.
Every so often I use the Soap and Glory Exfoliating brush which makes a real difference to my skin by removing all the dead skin and any thing in my pores this is a great alternative to the electric versions if you are on a budget, I was also swayed to buying this as it seems a bit more gentle than a electric one.

Once I have dried my face I use the Toner from the tea tree range all over my t-zone and cheeks. This is one of those products where if I miss a day using it I can really tell the difference in my skin. I then use the Face Mask every Sunday night switching between this and the Boots Tea Tree Peel off mask which removes any impurities and make my skin look completely refreshed a lot of face masks also seem to break me out whether that because its pulling the dirt to the surface I don't know but these don't cause that.

Making Blue Eyes Pop!

I have always had blue eyes that stand out from when I was little people always used to comment on how blue they are so when I first got my hands on makeup I have always worn makeup to compliment them (excusing that slightly weird period in my life I wore bright blue eyeliner and nothing else) but moving swiftly on I have been absolutely adoring this look of gold with a dark brown smoking it out and very voluminous lashes.

A Gold and Brown Smokey Eye using Drugstore and Highend products, great for blue eyes using brown eye liner, for beginners, easy simple, a look for young and old

This picture doesn't do the gold quite justice but I started off with covering my whole eyelid with gold eyeshadow which is my go to shadow to make my the blue pop. For maximum pigmentation a pigment/loose powder is always my way forward I then blend this out with a big fluffy brush with a light brown transitional shadow.
Using the Maybelline Nudes Palette to deepen the crease I then used a darker matte brown eyeshadow, I sometimes even use a cool toned bronzer which works amazingly, then on the very outer corner if I am going for a more glam look (which I didn't for this photo) I place a even darker brown, this time with a slight shimmer into the outer corner and blend this all in with the big fluffy brush used earlier. To complete the eyeshadow I use a white shimmer in the in corners and brow bone.

Moving onto eyeliner I used brown liner on lid which I occasionally wing out, then on my sightline and water line. I then make this softer and smudge it all out with a brush giving a smokier look. On a day to day occurrence I smoke it out less than a night out. Then to finish the look off I added a few coats of mascara to my top and bottom lashes.

I hope you love this eye look as much as me,  I just love how versatile this is maybe even switching the Gold for another colour, adding a darker crease colour or even adding my favourite, winged eyeliner.

Braided Half Up Bun Tutorial

Recently I have been trying my hardest to not apply heat to my hair everyday and although I have missed my curler and straighteners more than I probably should! I have been loving trying out new hairstyles so I thought I would share my go to one at the minute of a Braided Half Up Bun which is easier than you might think!
Easy and Simple Braided Half Up Half Down Tutorial for Medium to Long hair, 4 steps, great for second or third day hair
This is a great hairstyle for second day hair when there is a bit more grip to your hair and I would also say it works best for medium to long hair.
So first of all I got the top section of my hair and simply tied it up into a pony tail on the top of my head. this was quite easy for me as i just use the layers in my hair but I used to do this when I had no layers too.

I then took about a third of the hair I took into the ponytail and braided it into a usual plait with three sections then secured it with a clear elastic.

Now to create the half up bun I backcombed the base to give my thin hair a bit of a boost but if you have quite thick hair you can probably skip this step. Then I wrapped my hair around the base but leaving the plait out then secured the hair with a hell lotta bobby pins.

Then to finish the braided half up bun just pull the braid around the front of the bun and secure with a bobby pin at the end of the plait. And there we have it! I would love to hear any of your go to hairstyles, so leave any links to tutorials below and let me know if you try this out!

MAC Mehr- This is my most recent purchase of all of these, it is my perfect nude but still has a pinky undertone and also gives quite a kylie jenner lip which I love, its also a great colour if I am wearing a heavier eyeshadow. This is a matte formula but which I am personally a big fan of but for spring I love to add a gloss especially my Lancome one which I think gives the perfect finish to 'fresh faced look' for Spring.

MAC Girl About Town - MAC definitely do the best lipsticks so I couldn't not include another one, being a very, VERY bright pink this one is great for the transition from Spring to Summer, but is my go to colour as a pick me up or night out colour. The formula is moisturising yet lasts an incredibly long time. I included this in a MAC dupe post HERE if you want a cheaper alternative.

Maybelline Colour Drama Fuchsia Desire - This is a more barbie pink compared to Girl About Town but would be a good dupe, however the formulation is not as long lasting and has the tendency to bleed if not used with a lip liner. This again is one I love to wear throughout Spring and Summer and I find compliments my skin tone.

Soap And Glory Matte Lip Bullet - I am a massive fan of the more crayon like lipsticks such as the Revlon ones so when these were bought out at only £3.50 I couldn't wait to get my hands on them, this is quite a muted baby pink, this goes on so creamy then dries matte but still feels very moisturising when on, it doesn't last as long as other matte lipsticks I have tried and comes off when eating but I don't mind topping it up throughout the day.
